Staff Rules & Protocols

These are the standards every Obsidian staff member is expected to uphold at all times.

Professional conduct. Clear communication. Consistent enforcement

# Staff Code of Conduct

How you act reflects the entire team.

  • Be professional — Stay calm, fair, and respectful at all times.

  • 🔒 Keep confidentiality — Never leak staff chat, logs, or reports.

  • 🧠 Use common sense — Don’t wait for a rule to think logically.

  • 🚫 No abuse of power — All commands must be used for moderation purposes only.

  • 🗣️ Be approachable — Treat all players with respect, even when they’re wrong.

  • 🤝 Represent Obsidian — You’re the face of the community.

📌 Rule Enforcement Flow

Consistency is key to trust.

Situation
Action
Notes

Minor rulebreak

/warn <player> <reason>

Give a clear and respectful warning.

Repeated minor offense

/tempmute or /kick

If ignored, escalate without hostility.

Major offense

Escalate to Admin or use /ban

Provide evidence. Permanent bans = Admins+

Chat disruption

/mute or /tempmute

Stop it quickly; log it afterward.

Always use the least necessary force unless the situation demands urgency.

🧾 Logging & Documentation

  • 📷 Screenshot or record chat for serious cases.

  • 📝 Post in #staff-reports or your designated logs channel.

  • 💬 For unclear issues, ping a higher-up or discuss before acting.

🧠 Internal Behavior

  • Don’t argue in public — keep disagreements inside staff channels.

  • 🔄 Stay active — let us know if you’ll be inactive for a while.

  • 🧩 Help newer staff — your knowledge makes the whole team stronger.

⚠️ Demotion Triggers

  • Repeated misuse of permissions

  • Disrespecting staff or players

  • Inactivity without notice

  • Breaking rules or leaking info

  • Refusing to follow protocol

One mistake won’t get you removed. A pattern of them might.

🏁 Final Reminder

You are staff, but you are also a player. Follow the rules. Set the standard.

If you’re ever unsure about a situation:

  • Ask a senior staff member

  • Pause and collect evidence

  • Avoid acting emotionally
